I've just been reading up on the Community Reinvestment Act, and saw that banks were sued if refusing to lend to ''unqualified'' borrowers, and that Obama had taken Citi Bank to court for refusal to lend to a certain borrower who the bank had deemed as too low income? l also read that Obama has received 49 times as much money from Fannie Mae as any other US senator, while they profited off of the more mortages, the more money received....

l was pro Obama, up until the last month I've been utterly confused about this election. McCain tried to get a law passed in 2005 which the Democrats overruled? is this true???

McCain has ties to Freddie Mac, Obama to Fannie Mae, but ur numbers r grossly overstated.
McCain is against earmarks, but his running mate is the Queen of Earmarks, including the Bridge to Nowhere that she NEVER said NO Thanks to.
McCain & Graham & Bush were architects of this deregulation of banks & brokerages which allowed the ''anything goes'' attitude of freewheeling lending & creating of derivatives.
l wish Obama had even more experience, but he was in state government for years & has been a good Senator. His experience far eclipses Sarah Palin who has not even been governor for 2 years & has several scandals in Alaska, & was mayor of a town of 5000 before that. My village has 13000, & l do not want my mayor to be VP.
There is a DIFFERENCE between REDLINING, refusing to lend to anyone in a zip code & refusing to lend to some one based on income. Obama fought redlining.
McCain is just too old, & likely to die in office due to stresses, & then we'd have this TOTALLY unqualified idiot as President. She is had one trip out of the country, but can ''see'' Russia from her window. McCain is choice of her was an insult to Republican women & to all women, saying this was the best qualified woman he could get?! And if this is how poorly he vets his VP, I'd hate to see his candidates for Supreme Court & his Cabinet. It was pure pandering to the superconservative Republicans who elected Bush & have given us 8 years of total economic disaster & war. No more Bush, no more of the same, & no more of the super-right who led us there!!!

Yes, this is true about McCain, the dems squashed it immediately. l remember when this occured, & while the conservatives did not try to squash it, they did not really support it either. McCain is more like an independent, not a true conservative, & the die hard republicans do not have a history of rallying to him. It is more his stand on illegals then anything else that effects this.

It is also true about the banks fearing not lending to unqualified lenders, but Obama had nothing to do with that. That was Clinton, trying to make sure everyone owned a house. Clintons plan may have worked, if the poor would be happy owning a home, but that is not what happened. The poor decided they needed a mini-mansion & bought homes they had no chance of ever affording.

l have no idea how much $$ Obama received from Fannie May, as he likes to keep that hush hush, he will not disclose anything he does not have to. Both candidates have ties to them, & l would venture to guess 90% of all of the senate & house do too.

Do not believe all that McCain or the pundits say. Everybody receives contributions from companies. The only ones that do not u have never heard of.
