im 23... l am looking at an apartment where l would have to pay $1,000 flat to live there per month.
l have $200 a month in student loans, and anticpate a $200 a month car payment soon when l buy a new car.
to pay $1000 a month in rent myself.
how much MINIMUM should l be making a year to afford this? *specific K dollar amount.

An old school of thought is that ur rent should be 1/4 of what u make, so 1,000 a month rent means 4,000 a month money, or 48k. That is a bit unrealistic in my mind, but u need to factor in other things, do u still need to pay utilities, especially heat. If everything is included than u can afford to make less than if u pay 1000 a month, plus another hundred in electric, hundred in water, few hundred in heat, etc. Just do a budget & work backwards, trying to figure out what u will need to make to cover all of ur expenses, & then figure in fun money & some extra to cover unforeseen stuff.

And some more expenses. you sholud be making a year no less than $28,000
