How can l maintain the house clean so it will be appealing to them. Is there a way l could restrict them from looking at certain areas of the house.

Just keep it as clean as you can but they need to see every thing. Would you buy a home with out viewing all the rooms and grounds?

Let’s pretend you’re house hunting. What’s ur reaction to being told u can’t look at all rooms in a house you’re interested in? Would u honestly think “Oh, those room must be messy” or do u think “What r they trying to hide?” So no, u can’t restrict access to areas of ur home if u want to sell it.

Aside from that, a messy house creates the impression that u don’t take care of ur home. In a potential buyer’s mind a messy house begs the question “If they aren’t contentious enough to take care of the obvious issues like cleaning, r they even bothering with less obvious maintenance?”

When u put the house on the market it needs to be ''staged'' which means every room clean a void of clutter.

Buyers will want to see every room in the house & they need to look their best! Remove any personal items, family photos, clutter, clear off kitchen & bath counters.

In this bad housing market u need to do everything u can to make ur house appealing to potential buyers.

My house has been on the market for a year, & l have 1/2 my stuff packed up & l keep it meticulously clean. It has to look like a model home, no dishes in the sink, no wet towels hanging in the bath, no dirty clothes laying around, all beds made..etc!

This is what l did when l sold my home. l kept the things l used day to day, such as the toaster, coffee maker, dishes silverware etc in separate boxes so l could quickly stash them in the garage when somebody was coming by. l lived in as little of the home as possible, one bedroom, one bath room, kitchen, and family room. It was cleaned every morning. l kept minimal items in the house and but the rest in storage.

l always tell friends that they can look into the rooms from the hallways, but please do not enter. Then l can do a deep cleaning later. l just want to know if they have any interest. If not, it did not matter if they got to see the master bathroom..
