Im 19 and 19 weeks pregnantstill with my partner but havent got that much income for buying and dont really know about renting l wanna have a stable home ready for my baby to come into.Also l have mild scoliosis which give me a lot of pain so l really would like/need to be by my mum for her help in south west londons southfields there is absoloutly no room at my mums or my partners

Go to your local council is housing options department and you will be put on a waiting list. You will probably get put quite high up because of your needs.

unless u r actually homeless most councils wont even consider you,baby or not!sorry to be harsh but the reality is u only stand a chance if u r given priority for being homeless,or if u r a drug addict/alcoholic,have ''social''problems,are an immigrant.if u r working u stand even less of a chance,council housing was originally built for working people/families but todays govt seem to hand out houses to groups l mentioned,its all wrong!have u considered something like housing assoc?they may set different criterea for allocation,its worth a try

Ignore elaine y she is talking a load of rubbish - my cousin was put right at the top of the Council Housing Waiting List when she was pregnant the first time (she was lucky as the property she was placed in was right next door to her parents), both her & her partner were working.

As u r a Teen (with a medical problem) & Pregnant u will be given priority in the Council Housing Waiting List. Get ur GP involved, he/she will be able to tell the Council that because of ur condition u will need help at times, & the best person to provide that help will be ur Mum.

Get yourself on the waiting list. It is impossible to say how long u might have to wait as each area varies. The council should be able to give u some idea.
Do not expect miracles though. We have 4 children, two r disabled, we have been waiting nearly 10 years. Only when we were about to become homeless did we get told they would house us but this would be in a hostel.

l know u do not want to hear this & a little late now anyway but maybe u should have considered all this before putting yourself in this position. Even if it was an accident nothing is 100% safe except for doing nothing!

you will be lucky Southfields is so posh, make sure that you're on the council list - but be prepared for a 7 - 10 yr. wait as council housing is scarce in London, make sure that they know about your condition as it will get you more points.

You cannot guarantee a council property near ur mum. You will get one wherever they have one available.
Most likely it will be a flat & usually only 1 bedroom as ur baby is not classed as needing its own room till at least 1 years old.

If u r working & so is ur partner & u want to be housed together thern u will be a lower priority. They will probably recommend that u rent privately, which could be better anyway as u would have more of a choice over where u want to live.

Also if u r living somewhere now & not at an immediate risk of being declared homeless then u will be a low priority.

Just because u r pregnant does not give u immediate rights.

l should know as l was housed ina temporary unit when my daughter was 9 months old after being made homeless by private landlord. l had to live in the unit for 4 months before l was rehoused by the council. l was lucky to get a 2 bedroom as my daughter was over 1. But l had no say in where l wanted to live. If u r homeless & offered council property u have to take the first property they give u whether u want to live there or not. If u r just on the general housing list & r offered u r allowed 3 refusals.

Your best bet would be to go down to the local council offices. But be prepared if u say u r homeless then u could be put into a mother & baby unit, temporary housing, hostel or bed & breakfast. You may not just get a property straight away as it could take months or even years.
