ok my father in law bought a house under my fiances name back in 1997 we just found out about this house and also found out that he hasnt paid property taxes in 3 years so we decided to sell... well the father in law got wind that we are selling and he put a lein on the house what to do now??

Call the police. If he bought a house under your fiance is name then it is fraud, and he needs to be put in jail.

Your father-in-law has committed a crime. (Identity theft is fraud). It is up to your (husband? fiance?) to decide whether or not he wants his father prosecuted for this crime. If he does, he needs to contact a good lawyer immediately.

First, u will need a real estate attorney to resolve this for you.

He could not have bought a house ''under [your] fiance is name'' without her knowledge. She had to sign the papers back in 1997. If she didn't, then someone committed fraud. So, start by sorting that out.

A person can not just slap a lien on a property; there must be a valid reason for it. Usually that reason is a loan secured by the property (i.e., a mortgage); or there was work done on the house & not paid for (a mechanic is lien); or there was a legal judgment against the owner (your fiance) & the house is being held so they can collect the judgment.

If there is a lien filed for no reason, ur attorney can have it removed fairly easily.

There are several problems here. Are you living on the premises? Was this meant to be a gift to his daughter? Is their a mortgage on the house? What is the basis for the lien? How much is the lien? If she sells the house the lien will be paid out of the proceeds at closing. You probably should consult an attorney.
