In an inheritance I am receiving, in which I am splitting with my five siblings, We are auctioning a house and have a buyer. I've received several papers before this and since the bidding was over all have contained the final price of sale. Now, I've gotten this warranty deed which requires a notary witness it. On it it reads.
__________(Name) parties of the first part, in consideration of the sum of Ten Dollars ($10.00) and other good and valuable consideration in hand paid, the receipt of which is herby acknowledged, does herby grant, Bargain, sell and convery to (buyer)__________.

Is this small amount seem normal? It is not the amount the property was sold for. Why is it this ridiculous amount? The woman who sent the papers said it is normal and she is never shown a full amount on a warranty deed. Is there a reason? Should l be worried about being scammed from my money if l sign this?

That is a very standard thing. l think the reason people do this is that the Warranty Deed is a public document after it has been recorded and people do not want the price to be on it. The ''other good and valuable consideration in hand paid,.'' is the real price.

l have literally looked at thousands of deeds, and written a couple hundred. They all have looked this way.
