l live in Wisconsin and my husband signed the lease.l did not.I am not even sure if the landlords know l am living here.They may be under the impression that he is the only person.Could l be evicted?Could we both be evicted?Or does it not matter since we are married? What is the worst that could happen?

l was not available when we were supposed to sign the lease, so my husband did it alone.That is how we got into this situation, and now I am worried we made a HUGE mistake.Please help!Thanks!!
EDIT: Problem is, I am just realizing this now, and we've been living here for 6 months already.We also wanna move, so we are trying to find a sublet. PLUS we have roommates, so signing a longer lease would not be possible.And, we have a roommate move out who is trying to find a sublet, so we're worried the landlord will make us pay for his rent if we add an additional person (me) to the lease.We can swing that kind of money.

So, explaining this to the landlord worries me.

The laws of eviction r governed by the state where u live. So it would depend on what the law says, but l would guess that u could be evicted because u could be viewed as an unauthorized person who is residing in the premisies.

Check ur lease & see what it says.

l could not imagine why they would want to evict u as long as u have done nothing wrong. l suggest u call the office & explain the situation & ask them to add u to the lease. That is what l did when l got married.

In every apartment I've ever lived in, everyone is names had to be on the lease. Did ur husband tell the landlord u were unavailable & did they say it was ok for just him to sign? l would just go to the landlord & explain the situation. Have ur husband tell them that he wants to add u onto the lease. They will probably have to re-do the lease & make u sign for another 6-month or 1-yr term (however it was originally done) because of this though. l do not think u will get evicted for it.

Yes you can BOTH be evicted.
Everyone living in the dwelling MUST be on the lease that includes Children
