we have more empty houses than you can shake a stick at,put them to work rebuilding roads and bridges,
yes but sam if we dont need houses and we do need new roads and bridges would it not be wise to put them to work fixing them,hell they can bail out the banks,lets get working on that

l agree but the government is the one who builds roads and bridges and they do not have money right now.

The market goes into a tizzy because house construction makes up a large portion of the overall economy, not just construction workers, but folks who work in the factories making the stuff u use to build houses to the lumbermen & sawmill workers, truckers who haul the stuff, etc.

As for putting them to work on roads & bridges, there is nowhere near enough money in federal & state treasuries to make up for the economic loss, unless we raise taxes. And given the current budget situation of many states arising from decreased revenues from property taxes, l doubt that there is much money around to even begin to make a dent.

Im assuming u mea not ''they'' as in us, Americans who have money invested in the stock market through some kind of mutual fund or IRA. Hedge & mutual fund companies had lots & lots of money (our money, 401k is & IRA's) invested in some of these big companies who r not building homes anymore. They stopped building houses, & their stock dropped, big time. When these companies stop doing business, people who have 401k is investing in them, lose money. So ''they'' r in a tizzy because ''they'' r losing money. Hope this helps.
