l got a really old landlord! l also think he is perverted! l was a19 female when l moved in there! l would be getting a shower or getting dressed and he would just walk into my place without my permission! He always came in without my permission! When l first moved in he told me that the fridge was leaking a little according to the people who were in there prior to me.He said if it is leaking bad when l move in then he will replace. l also knew the guy that lived in there before me who partied in there alot, so l went up and checked out the place. it wasnt in bad condition, just stains on the carpet. To make a long story short l moved out of there last month for a military deployment to iraq. im in the army national guard. he decides to keep my deposit because he said the fridge did damage to the floor and said that l never told him it was leaking (which l did 10+ times!) and he had to rip up the linoleum. and he said that the carpet was stained! l am so freakin shocked by how much of an ass this old bastard is being and refuses to give me my deposit back! Does anyone know how l could get it back>??? thanks

Did u take pictures of the move-in condition of the property? If u did not, then how can u prove the condition of the property before u moved in? Do u have documentation showing that u notified him of the leaky refridgerator? If not, then ur going to have a tough case. Did u do a final walk-through with him with return of keys & deposit? Did u take pictures of the move-out condition of the property?

The only way u can prove that anything was wrong with the property when u moved in is to have the previous tenant testify in court of the condition of the property at the time he moved out.

If he had to tear up the flooring in the kitchen because of the fridge, then that means he would have to put new flooring down. He should have an invoice of where he purchased the flooring & he is actually required to send u documentation of deductions made from ur deposit. If say u put down 1200 dollars & the flooring only cost him 600 dollars, then he would still owe u the 600 dollars & documentation of the purchase. You need to consult an attorney that specializes in LL/tenant law & see exactly how much of a case u have. Your lack of proof might be a killer for the case, but there is still a ray of hope.
